Winter Sun is a multimedia artist, animator, and storyteller based in the mountains of Crestone, Colorado. Working across painting, sculpture, and motion, she moves fluidly between mediums, following the thread of her vision through whatever form it manifests. Her work explores the unseen patterns and sacred geometries that shape the natural world, translating energetic and symbolic languages into objects, images, and experiences that open new ways of seeing.
Her sculptural Dreamboxes are three-dimensional collaged works built from the cast-off and the elemental: natural objects, steampunk-inspired pipes and springs, recycled materials transformed into vivid, layered worlds of meaning. These objects established the core of her artistic philosophy: that the ordinary world, looked at closely enough, contains hidden messages. Her paintings extend this inquiry onto canvas, working in acrylic with intuitive color and layered symbolism. Her most recent series, Animal Spirit Portraits, pushes further still, incorporating hand-stitched beads and crystals directly into the painted surface, rendering each animal subject as both fine art object and a doorway into the spirit world.
In parallel, Winter works as an animator for film and music, weaving the same mythic threads of nature, energy, and story into motion. She is the founder of The Dreambox Workshop, a boutique animation studio rooted in the belief that all creative work, whether painted, sculpted, or animated, is a living conversation between the visible and the invisible.
